The Local Area Agreement
The Local Area Agreement is between the Government, the Local Authority and key partners, to deliver shared outcomes for the benefit of local people.
The LAA is designed by the Government to simplify the number of additional funding streams from Central Government going into an area, to help join up public services more effectively and allow greater flexibility for local solutions to local circumstances.
They are three-year agreements struck between Government and the Local Authority working through the Local Strategic Partnership.
In 2006 West Berkshire signed its first 3 year agreement and at the end of May 2008 we began our second agreement. LAA2 has up to 35 targets that have been selected based on local need to drive improvements to local services. Partners, senior Council Officers and Councillors have been involved in selecting the indicators, listed in the document below.
More information can be found by visiting the Local Area Agreement page on West Berkshire Council's website.
