Greener Sub-Partnership
West Berkshire's Greener Sub-Partnership is one of six partnerships reporting to the Local Strategic Partnership Board to deliver the outcomes outlined in the Sustainable Community Strategy called 'A Breath of Fresh Air'.
The Group is comprised of the Executive Portfolio Member and Shadow Executive Portfolio Member for Cleaner and Greener, voluntary organisations including Friends of the Earth, Community Council for Berkshire, the Community Furniture Project, local businesses, Vodafone, AWE, Thames Valley Energy and officers across relevant Council services.
The initial priorities of the Group are to deliver the following outcomes:
- Reduce West Berkshire's carbon footprint by:
- increasing the use of renewable energy and becoming more energy efficient
- reducing waste and increasing recycling
- increasing the proportion of food consumed from local sources
- encouraging sustainable travel
For more detail on how these priorities outcomes are achieved, please read the
Greener Action Plan 2009-10
Several sub-groups have been formed to progress specific projects to meet these outcomes. They include:
- Community Carbon Reduction Project
- Commercial/Industrial Carbon Reduction Project
- Local Use of Resources/Food Group
- Climate Change Strategy Group
