Safer Communities Partnership
The Safer Communities Partnership Team was created in March 2007 with the co-location of key Community Safety Officers from West Berkshire Council, Sovereign Housing Association and Thames Valley Police.
The Safer Communities Partnership is a strategic partnership that fulfils the statutory roles of the:
- Community Safety Partnership (formerly Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership – CDRP)
- Drug and Alcohol Action Team
- Youth Offending Team Management Board
The partnership includes:
- West Berkshire Council
- Thames Valley Police
- Thames Valley Police Authority
- NHS Berkshire West
- Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service
- Thames Valley Probation
- Sovereign South+West.
The partnership is responsible for conducting an annual assessment of crime, disorder and substance misuse and for updating the 3 year Partnership Plan. The Partnership Plan describes how the partner agencies will work to address local issues identified by the annual assessment. The aims for the Safer Communities Partnership for 2010/11 are to:
- Reduce crime
- Reduce domestic abuse
- Reduce anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and fear of crime
- Improve offender management
- Reduce speeding and the number of injuries and deaths on the road
The partnership is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of other associated strategic action plans such as the Youth Justice Strategic Plan & Capability & Capacity Assessment and Drug Treatment Plans.
The Partnership is also responsible for assessing need, establishing performance targets, performance management against local, regional and national targets and resource management.
